Solid State Organ Systems
|
A system is only as reliable as its designer - and without backup, service and advice to match, would be utterly useless. So before ordering a system, here’s a chance to meet the team in advance. You’ll see, too, that SSOS people don’t spend all their lives thinking organs or microchips. In our mind, those who do other things make the most flexible thinkers. Feel free to contact them at any time. Duncan Crundwell, our CEO, studied mechanical engineering but decided to make TV ads and commercial music instead. He also built and installed recording studios, so joined Solid State Logic in 1984 and became worldwide support manager a few years later. In 1991, Duncan moved over to SSL Organ Systems and finally bought it in 2002. As well as having an MBA, a robotic student son, a charming Russian wife and a Siberian cat, he’s heavily into art, photography and music. Mark Gilliam, Sales Director, did study organs and graduated in Organ Performance at the University of North Texas. He stayed in Texas for the next 25 years as an organ builder and technician, coming to SSOS in 1999. A regular organist and choirmaster, Mark also wields a rock n’ roll guitar and occasionally inflicts it on his wife, daughter and grandchildren. He frequently visits the UK - to visit customers and, almost as importantly, sample the many varieties of English ale. Adrian Wadey, SSOS’s Chief Engineer, came to us in 1980 after writing programs for home computer and arcade games. He’s designed hundreds of systems across the UK and US, from small parish churches to major installations like the Royal Albert Hall and Sydney Opera House. Outside, Adrian takes equal pride in his lighting, sound and special effects for theatres and drama groups across the south of England. Alan Bragg, our US Service Manager, started life as a chef before gaining an OND in electronic engineering. In 1994 it was straight to SSOS, both in the UK and US. Alan makes ordering, installing and using systems as straightforward as possible for SSOS customers, answering queries and preparing orders for the factory floor. A wife, two children and collection of radio controlled toys get the same attention in evenings and weekends. John White, Production Manager, has 6 children, 13 grandchildren and a diploma in Social Administration as well as a full-time career at SSOS. His responsibilities in the works include tracking every system’s production and ensuring that enough spares are kept in stock for the rest of its life. And as if the family didn’t take up the rest of John’s spare time, he’s the secretary of a bowls league in Suffolk. Debbie Saunders, the UK Manager, administers the Brandon factory, talks directly to SSOS customers across the UK and handles queries from the US. Thanks to her all enquiries, however tricky, are answered in minutes. Back home, three daughters, a cricket-mad husband and a university degree ensure every minute is filled. |
